Bakesale Betty's famous fried chicken sandwich didn't make it onto 7x7's Big Eat list, but it has been on mine for a while, and I'm not alone. The sandwich has a cult following that reaches far beyond Oakland; LA chef Vinny Dotolo gets one every time he's up north. This weekend I finally got to meet Betty — er, her sandwich — and it was a dream come true. Click through to take a 'wich trip.
Glad you finally made it! I got one a few weeks ago (sans the bread), and it was way too spicy (the coleslaw) for my pregnant tastebuds. Must make trip after this baby is born to see if I can handle the peppers.

I DID get a ginger molasses cookie for dessert. And a pecan shortbread cookie. And a ginger and pear scone. Oh, and while in line for the second time to purchase these dessert items we got a lemon and raisin scone. So I went overboard, what do you care? It's not like I ate the whole fried chicken sandwich first. Okay, so I did. Stop judging me. I regret nothing!

As a southerner, I I kinda' resent that I had to come all the way from Texas to have a fried chicken sandwich done RIGHT. But I'm glad I did!
