How many different ways can you make doughnut sandwich? At least nine, according to this roundup from Woman's Day. Paula Deen gained infamy for her Krispy Kreme bacon cheeseburger (pictured), but doughnuts have also been used to make chicken sandwiches, ice cream sandwiches, and, hilariously, veggie burgers. I like doughnuts, and I like sandwiches, but I prefer to keep them separate. How about you?
I'm no sandwich snob, so I'm not embarrassed to admit that I like Subway sandwiches. From high school through adulthood, they have gotten me through many late-night deadlines and road trips. I love the bread, the funny little cheese triangles, the oil and vinegar and olives — all of it!
According to recent news, Subway could soon have more stores than McDonald's. I know sandwich lovers who poo-poo Subway, and if given the choice, I'll eat at a local shop instead. But if the choice is between Subway and other fast food, I welcome the healthier sandwiches. What say you?
Last time Andrew I and went to Ike's, he ordered the MILF: chicken, stuffed jalapeño poppers, Frank's Red Hot Sauce, and ranch dressing. The use of cheesy peppers in place of cheese is nothing short of brilliant, but mostly the MILF is just a ranchy mess. Despite the fact that Wendy's "ranch tooth" commercial (below) is one of my all-time favorites, I'm not really a fan of ranch on sammies. You?
I always eat the ends from our loaves of bread. Andrew just leaves them in the bread bag, assuming they have my name on them. I actually like the ends, especially when I'm eating some type of burger and it stands in for a bun. A co-worker told me this means I would be a good mom, since moms are always eating stuff no one else wants. How about you?
After a recent trip to Vancouver, I realized I hadn't eaten a sandwich in five days! Then I second guessed my declaration when I remembered our burger cookout (pictured).
But to me, a burger isn't really a sandwich; it started out as one but has since transcended the definition to become its own distinct category. What do you think?
